Emergent, Holistic, and Transcendental Approaches to Social Sciences: Looking Beyond the Contemporary Narratives

The International Interdisciplinary Conference on “Emergent, Holistic, and Transcendental Approaches to Social Sciences: Looking Beyond the Contemporary Narratives” convened at the University Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University on October 30-31, 2023. Organized jointly by the Centre for Study & Research in New Delhi and the Faculty of Social Sciences at Aligarh Muslim University, the conference aimed to delve into innovative approaches that surpass the confines of conventional social science paradigms. The themes explored encompassed Contemporary Historiographical Approaches in History, Re-Reading Sociological Approaches in Sociology, Revisiting Political Discourses in Political Science, and delving into the Epistemology and Methodology of Social Science. The event commenced with an insightful Inaugural Session led by Prof. Syed Farid Al-Attas, stimulating critical dialogues on the trajectory of social sciences. Plenary Lectures by Dr. Muhammad al-Mukhtar al-Shinqiti and Prof. Hussain Jafri further enriched the discourse, offering profound insights into the evolving landscape of interdisciplinary studies. A Total of 18 papers were selected and peer-reviewed from a pool of 38 papers received, with over 200 researchers, students, and senior faculty from across the globe in attendance, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and perspectives.

Islamic Philosophy

The Delhi Council on Philosophical Research (DCPR) organized a one-day conference on Islamic Philosophy on the 23rd of February 2019, held in New Delhi. The event saw the participation of 50 scholars, and 18 research papers were presented.

Indian History Writing Traditions

A two-day National Conference on “Indian History Writing Traditions” was scheduled for the 1st and 2nd of February 2020. However, many participants canceled their travel plans due to protests and violence caused by the Anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Consequently, the council reduced the event to a one-day seminar held on the 1st of February 2020. A total of 45 people participated, 25 papers were presented, and three invited lectures were delivered.

The International Conference on Economic and Management Research

The International Conference on Economic and Management Research, organized by the Centre for Economic and Management Research (CEMR), was held in New Delhi on the 3rd and 4th of March 2018. The conference had more than 50 participants and featured 27 paper presentations.

History Conference

In collaboration with CERT, the Centre for Social Research (CSR) organized a two-day history conference on the 29th and 30th of September 2018. A total of 26 research papers were presented during the event.

CSR, in collaboration with the Centre for Law and Society (CLS) and Jamia, Law Department, organized a one-day conference on the 22nd of September 2018 at the Indian Islamic Culture Centre in New Delhi. The conference attracted 150 participants from different parts of India.

Islamic Perspectives in Psychology

A three-day International Conference on Islamic Perspectives in Psychology was held in collaboration with Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) from the 11th to the 13th of November 2018. The conference saw participation from more than 200 people from eight countries, with 91 papers presented and five special lectures delivered.

Impact of Islamic Law on Contemporary Legal System

A National Conference on the “Impact of Islamic Law on Contemporary Legal System” was held in collaboration with Aliah University Kolkata. The event saw 200 students participating and 85 papers presented.

Contemporary Trends in Islamic Psychology

A conference on Contemporary Trends in Islamic Psychology was held in New Delhi, with 55 participants in attendance. A total of 19 research papers were presented, along with lectures by experts in the field. For more details, visit Islamic Psychology
