Professor Abdul Aziz Barghut
Dean, International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) Malaysia

Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout is a distinguished academic and the Dean of the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC-IIUM) at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Specializing in Islamic Studies, Civilization, Education, and Strategic Thinking, he has over two decades of teaching experience in subjects ranging from Islamic worldview to research methodology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Professor Abdelaziz holds double doctorates: one in Islamic Civilisation and History from Universiti Malaya (UM) and another in Education from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

He has published more than 50 academic papers and authored 10 books on topics such as civilizational renewal, Islamic worldview, education, and strategic planning. His major works include Prophetic Methodology and Social Change (1995), Foundations of Civilizational Renewal (2006), and Strategic Planning Capacity Building for Human Capital Development (2010).

He holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Civilization from Universiti Malaya, a Master’s in Islamic Revealed Knowledge from IIUM, a Bachelor’s in Finance, and a Diploma in Human Sciences. He also contributes globally by serving on various international editorial and advisory boards dedicated to Islamic thought.

Dr Rohaiza Rokis
Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology
AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences

Rohaiza binti Abd. Rokis is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak Campus.​

She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom; an M.Sc. in Applied Social Research from the University of Stirling, Scotland; and a Bachelor of Human Sciences in Sociology and Anthropology from IIUM. Her academic specialisation is in the sociology of work, with additional research interests in women and employment, gender studies, and research methodologies.​

Dr. Rohaiza is an active researcher and author, with numerous publications in ISI- and Scopus-indexed journals such as the Asian Journal of Women Studies and Asian Social Science. She also serves on the editorial and advisory boards of several academic journals, including the IIUM Journal of Religion and Civilisational Studies and the IIUM Journal of Human Sciences.​

At IIUM, she teaches courses like Work and Organisation, Women and Society, Research Methodology, and Sociology of Work, and has held leadership roles within her faculty, including serving as Head of Department.​

Dr. Sayyed Mohamed Muhsin
Associate Professor, International Islamic University Malaysia

Sayyed Mohamed Muhsin is an Associate Professor of Islamic Jurisprudence at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak Campus. He holds a PhD in Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage from IIUM and earlier degrees from Darul Huda Islamic University, India, and the University of Calicut. His expertise covers Islamic jurisprudence, bioethics, and contemporary juristic issues. He has authored several books, including “Fatwa: Methodology of Shafite Scholars in South India,” and has published over 25 research articles focused on Islamic law and biomedical ethics.

He currently serves as Head of Research and Publication in the Department of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh at IIUM and is the Editor-in-Chief of Islamonweb-English. Dr. Muhsin also leads the Medico-Fiqh Institute project, which explores the integration of Islamic jurisprudence with modern medical ethics. Besides IIUM, he holds adjunct fellowships at Guidance College, Houston, and Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala.

Dr. Muhsin’s teaching includes courses on Islamic jurisprudence and bioethics, and he supervises graduate research in related fields. His work aims to bridge classical Islamic legal thought with ethical challenges in contemporary biomedicine, contributing valuable interdisciplinary insights to both academia and the Muslim community.

Prof. Mohamad Fauzan Bin Noordin
Deputy Rector, IIUM Gombak Campus

Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Fauzan Bin Noordin is the Deputy Rector at the IIUM Gombak Campus. He is a Professor in Knowledge Technology at the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology and the current Head of the ICT and Islam Research Cluster.

He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wales, UK, an MBA from Central Missouri State University, USA, and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA.

With a distinguished career spanning over a decade, he has held numerous leadership roles, including Dean of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies at IIUM and the first Dean of the ICT Faculty at Al-Madinah International University. His expertise includes Knowledge Management, ICT and Islam, and Cloud Computing. He is a prolific researcher, an award-winning inventor, and a frequent speaker at international conferences.

Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Wira Dr. Jamil Osman

Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Wira Dr. Jamil Osman (born 3 May 1950) is a highly distinguished Malaysian scholar and a pioneering figure in Islamic banking and finance in Malaysia.

He is best known for his role as the Rector and CEO of Insaniah University College. Before this, he had a long and esteemed career at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), where he served as the Dean of the Admissions and Records Division (1989-1999) and later as the Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs (1999-2003).

An alumnus of the University of Nottingham, his expertise lies in the field of Islamic Economics. In recognition of his significant contributions to the nation, he has been awarded the honorific title of Dato’ three times, ultimately receiving the prestigious title of Dato’ Wira.

Prof. Thameem Ushama
Professor, IIUM Gombak Campus

Prof. Dr. Thameem Ushama is a distinguished and respected scholar at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), where he serves as a Professor in the AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences at the Gombak Campus. He is a central figure in the Department of Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion, having previously held the leadership role of Head of Department. His academic work and research are deeply focused on the fields of Usul al-Din (Principles of Religion) and Comparative Religion.

Prof. Dr. Thameem Ushama is a prolific author and a prominent voice in contemporary Islamic thought. His scholarly contributions extensively explore critical areas such as methodologies for understanding Islamic texts, modern challenges facing the Muslim world, and the dynamics of interfaith dialogue. Through his numerous books, academic articles, and lectures, he has established himself as a significant intellectual influence, guiding students and contributing valuable insights to global Islamic discourse.
